Will only 3 days to go until the opening night of Hot Mikado,, I am getting very excited, tomorrow we are getting into the Alban Arena to setup , there is a band call and then a technical rehearsal.
To celebrate the opening of this fantastic show I am posting a daily interview with a member from the cast and crew of Hot Mikado.
The show is on at the Alban Arena from Tues 10th May until Sat 14th May and is being performed by members of the St Albans Operatic Society.
We now turn our attention to Kerry Lee, who you may remember as Mary from our last show Jesus Christ Superstar, she is playing Pitti-Sing, one of the Three Little Maids cabaret act in our new show.
So Kerry, how did you first get involved in musicals?
I started doing musicals when I was 16 years old with the Wycombe Youth Projects in High Wycombe. My first show was Guys and Dolls and it went from there.
How would you describe your character in Hot Mikado?
Pitti-Sing is great fun, she’s feisty, brash, gobby, protective and a bit saucy. She also has an AWESOME song hee hee
How does she compare to you?
haha! I know what you want me to say…I suppose I am pretty feisty and upfront too but I reckon that’s where the similarities end :o)
What do you enjoy doing when you are not involved in a show.
I enjoy being a mum to my beautiful daughter Romy and spending time with my family and friends
If you could be any character from a musical, who would it be and why?
Oh God, 100% Sally Bowles. Liza Minelli is my heroine so I watched her constantly in the film Cabaret (My all time fav musical) and I just adore Sally, her little girl trying to be shocking and sexy and failing for the most part, her vulnerability, humour and those big belty numbers, it’s just right up my street. SOMEBODY PLEASE DO CABARET!
